Punch Bowl Cake

This recipe is not only appealing to the appetite but appealing to the eye as well. It turns out a very colorful, delicious dessert. Ingredients needed: 1 yellow cake mix, Two 3 1/2 oz. packages, of Jello-O vanilla instant pudding and pie filling, ( prepared as per instructions on box ), One 20 oz. can of crushed, drained, pineapples, 6 ripe bananas sliced, 2 pints of strawberries, ( one pint sliced, one pint crushed, mixed together in bowl ) One 24 oz, container of Cool Whip Whipped Topping or fresh whipped cream ( 1 quart of heavy cream whipped with 1 cup of sugar until stiff ) Preparations as follows: Prepare and bake cake mix as per directions on box in two 9 inch round cake pans. Allow to cool. Place one layer of cake into bottom of  glass punch bowl , or large glass bowl. Add half of the pudding mixture, half of the crushed pineapples, 3 sliced bananas, half of the strawberries, and half of the cool whip, or fresh whipped cream. Place second layer of cake on top and add remaining ingredients, repeating layers as directed above. Top with Cool Whip Whipped Topping, sprinkle with strawberry juice.  My variation of this cake for 4th of July holidays is to use white cake mix layers in place of yellow, replacing pineapples with blueberries, thus creating a red, white, and blue effect...Enjoy.
