Instant Pot Cake

Well I tested out the "Cake" feature of my #InstantPot. Of course I can't make a huge cake in it, but smaller cakes are not a bad thing where I am concerned! HA 😂
Anyway I was a skeptic as to whether I could make a cake in this Instant Pot or not. But I actually did! And it was pretty good! It didn't have the same texture as a "baked" cake, it was a bit more dense, closer to a brownie type texture, but just as flavorful all the same!

So for anyone with an Instant Pot that may want to try making a cake in yours, here is the recipe.

Instant Pot Cake

Ingredients:

1 (15.25 oz ) Boxed Cake Mix

Frosting of your choice

Directions:

Prepare the Cake Mix as per directions on the box.

Divide batter into 2 bowls.

Spray a pan with non-stick spray (I used a ceramic "oven safe" pan) Size dependant on the size of your Instant Pot.

Pour half the batter into the pan.

Loosely cover pan with foil.

Place trivet & 1 cup of water into Instant Pot.

Lower cake into pot.

Put on lid & seal vent; Press the cake button setting or the Manual/High for 30 minutes. ( Depending on which Instant Pot you own. Mine has the cake setting. )

After the 30 minutes is up do a 15 minute Natural Pressure Release, then release any remaining pressure.

Check cake with toothpick to make sure it's done.

Remove cake from pot & let cool on wire rack for 10 minutes before removing from pan.

Repeat with remaining cake batter.

Frost cake as desired.

Enjoy! ☺

Okay everyone I am so excited to share this post with you! I recently invested in a new kitchen appliance called the Instant Pot. It arrived via FedEx today! I first heard about it on Good Morning America. After reading about 1000 customer reviews, almost all positive,
I decided to get one for myself. What is this Instant Pot you ask?
The #InstantPot is a multi-cooker that does the job of a slow cooker, electric pressure cooker, rice cooker, steamer, yogurt maker, sauté/browning pan, and warming pot. It's a single appliance that does the job of seven different kitchen appliances. You can even make cakes in it! 😀 This appliance is going to cut my cooking time in half! ( Winning! ) And I will be able to do my canning with it this fall! I should have gone for the 8 quart model, but got the 6 quart one instead.
Needless to say I am one happy camper with my Instant Pot! If you decide to get something new for yourself and your kitchen, get yourself an Instant Pot! You won't be sorry.

I made my first recipe in it tonight. I made a pot roast with potatoes, carrots, onions & celery. Which normally used to take me around 3 hours to prepare in the oven.
I pressure cooked it in the Instant Pot and it only took 45-50 minutes...with an extra 10 more minutes for the veggies which you add last. Let me just say the roast was falling apart and so juicy! And the vegetables were so tender. Everything was absolutely delicious! 😀
