Grandma's Sunday Cake

This recipe was given to me by my sister Bobbie. It was given to her by her husband's grandmother. It's the old fashioned, made from scratch, Sunday go to dinner cake, that your Grandma's used to make! 😀

Ingredients for cake:

2 cups all purpose flour

1 1/2 cups sugar

3 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon Salt

1/2 cup shortening

1 1/2 cups milk

2 Eggs

2 teaspoons Vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a  9" by 13" cake pan.

Mix shortening, eggs, sugar, and vanilla together. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt into the mixture. Slowly mix in the milk. Pour into prepared cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 - 30 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean when testing.

The icing is made in a little iron skillet

Ingredients for icing:

l Cup of Evaporated Milk

1 Cup of Sugar

1 teaspoon Vanilla

Directions:

Cook and stir constantly until thickened.
